The "My So-Called Life" effect...
I'm sure that many of you can relate to my obsession with "My So-Called Life" as a young teenager. I was pretty much the same age as Angela at the time, I dressed similarly & had my hair dyed the same color with pretty much the same style. I still remember one football game that I went to where an adult told me he'd seen me on TV the night before! Of course, looking back, he was probably messing with me, but I thought it was cool at the time!
And, if you're anything like me, you were devastated when the show was cancelled. I couldn't believe it...what were they thinking? Who in their right mind would cancel a show that I related to in such a way! Where were they getting these ratings? Who were they talking to? How did they find these people? From that point on I realized that I wanted to make my opinions heard, but I had no idea where to start.

A Few of My Greatest Fears
The quote resonated with me
ever since the first time I heard it in college. It’s interesting to look back through your
life and think of what your fears said about who you were at the time. As a child I remember being scared of the
usual monsters, ghosts & witches which was only heightened after the older
neighbor girl let us watch Nightmare on Elm Street. I was always scared of fire, tornadoes, a
kidnapper coming in through my window and I had an irrational fear of
sharks. I grew up in Michigan …

What kind of Labor Day Weekend did you have?
I had the
half relaxing & half productive kind! I apologize for my absence,
but I had a TON going on this weekend!
It took almost a full day for me to get my son’s playroom back in order
after a few months of just “letting it go” since he’s a kid making memories and
all that! ;-)
I got some
home improvement projects done inside & outside this weekend as well! We put up a closet door, did some work in the
upstairs bathroom, added a decorative new hose hanger & got in some final
summer gardening! We went to see ‘How to
Train Your Dragon 2’ and went to out for Mexican at The Landing in Renton on
Sunday. We grilled out yesterday, as is
required! And just spent a great deal of
time together as a family… It was
perfect!
What kind of
Labor Day Weekend did you have? Super
busy, super relaxing, a combination, lots of friends & family or
quiet? Tell me about it! However it was I hope it was great! I’ll be back to it today and I have quite a
bit for you, so get ready!!

What's for dinner? A three-way perhaps?
Back
in the day I went to college in Nashville ,
TN …best time of my life! And while there I met some of the coolest
people ever and had some of the craziest experiences…some of which I will share
with you at some point. Anyhow, I had
this super awesome friend who met some random guy at a bar one night…this
random guy is now her husband! They
thought it would be fun to introduce me to his friend so we could double date
and it worked! The random guy & his
friend lived about four hours north of Nashville
in Kentucky near the border of Cincinnati . I ended up dating the friend and the four of
us would spend certain weekends either there or in Music City ,
it was all a drunken haze as all good college stories should be! While at their place we would go out to eat,
go to bars and nurse our hangovers at their house. One of the best cures for a hangover, if you
haven’t tried it yet, is a three-way.
And no, I do not mean an orgy. I
mean a Cincinnati three-way: spaghetti noodles,
shredded cheddar cheese and Cincinnati
chili! Gold Star was my favorite… yumilicious!
Anyhoo…that relationship did not last, but one thing did…my love for a
good three-way!

Toilet Tales * Munchkins & Potty Fiascos
My
son is almost five and has been potty trained for quite some time. In fact he’s been in the process of potty
training since he was about two and a half, which was a little early in my
opinion. However the daycare just
started so we went with the flow.
Anyway, he’s been a pro for a while now, but continues to have an
accident or two every couple months. But
that’s beside the point. So we went to
this Kindergarten Q&A at daycare a while ago and they mentioned all of the
milestones that must be met and expectations we will be facing. One of which was the fact that boys are
expected to know how to use a urinal…light bulb moment! I had not even considered this! Anyway, we got to work on training him to go
potty standing up and his Dad takes him into the Men’s Room to use the urinals.

Mid-Thirties Reflections * Love in your 20's: If I knew then...
Can you believe that it’s
already July? This means that it’s
almost August. Far too close to my
birthday for comfort! I don’t typically
have anything against my birthday, however this year I will be turning 35. And I’m not quite certain how I feel about
that yet.
The older I get, the more
I realize that 35 isn’t really “old” after all.
However I can’t shake the feeling that everything before 35 was
technically still “young” and being viewed as a woman in her early thirties
hasn’t been so bad. Now I’m facing the
dreaded “mid-thirties” and that just seems so, I don’t know…matronly…

Watching Brian Williams Reporting: Journey to Normandy
Watching Brian Williams Reporting: Journey to Normandy...anyone else? Both of my late grandfather's were in WWII and I remember my Dad telling me the history behind D-Day and what it meant. It's unreal what those young people went through & what they sacrificed for all of us. Now these matured gentlemen tell their harrowing stories...truly the 'Greatest Generation'... #DDay70
